    • Kennett Square Mushroom Festival: The 25th Annual Mushroom Festival is searching for the best mushroom soup made by every day, amateur cooks. Up to five finalists will be selected to make their mushroom soup at the Mushroom Festival on Saturday, September 11. The Amateur Fresh Mushroom Soup Cook-off is open to all amateur cooks, 21 years of age or older. All entries must be postmarked or FAX-dated by July 30.     • Practice Without Pressure: Join Practice Without Pressure at 2010 Crab Feast on Friday, July 30 from 7pm to 11pm for a great meal, family friendly fun and dancing with live music.     • Delaware Shakespeare Festival: Enjoy Shakespeare under the stars when the Annual Shakespeare Festival returns to beautiful Rockwood Mansion Park from July 16 through July 31. The open air festival’s featured production this year is Macbeth. Performances begin at 7:30pm on Wednesday through Saturday. Sunday performances begin at 6pm and children under 10 are admitted free with a paid adult ticket. Extra craft and special activities for children are offered on Sundays.     • Ronald McDonald House of Delaware: Entertain your entire family and support the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware at the Second Funfest at the Brandywine Town Center on Wednesday, August 4 from 12pm to 8pm. Enjoy games, face painting and crafts for the kids, an antique and classic car show, fairytale hair show and haircuts, live music, a silent auction and celebrity waiters.     • Westside Family Care: Westside Family Healthcare, a non-profit community health center in New Castle County, will host its 20th Annual 5K the Westside Way Race/Walk on Wednesday August 4 on the Wilmington Riverfront.     • Delaware Children's Museum: Friday Flicks is a free, outdoor movie series at Justison Landing Park, every Friday in August. The theme of the movie series is "Dream Big".     • Delaware KIDS Fund: The inaugural DE Kids Fund 5K Run is August 7. Registration begins at 7:30am at the James Street Tavern in Newport. Cost for the race is $18 before August 4 and $22 day of the event. Proceeds from this race benefit Delaware Kids In Distressed Situations.     • Delaware's Old State House: On Saturday, August 7 from 9am to 4:30pm, The Old State House in Dover, Delaware, will present "Delaware Art Works: The Commodores," a program on the English-born, American artist Thomas Sully whose creations include portraits of two of Delaware's heroes of the War of 1812-Commodores Jacob Jones and Thomas Macdonough. Commissioned in 1814, the portraits still hang in their original positions in Delaware's first state capital building which was completed in 1791. The program is free and open to the public.     • Five Points Fire Company: The Five Points Fire Company on Maryland Avenue in Wilmington will be having their annual Community Open House on Saturday, August 7 from 11am to 3pm. There will be several local, county, and state agencies present to accommodate the public. There will be activities for the kids and refreshments for everyone. This year, we will have a fill the boot for donations. All the proceeds from the boot will be going to the Cancer Society in "honor of our brothers and sisters."     • Free To Breathe Race: The first annual Free to Breathe Race is being held in Lewes, Delaware. The event is sponsored by the National Lung Cancer.   • Faithful Friends: Kitten season is here and Faithful Friends urgently needs foster homes to save pregnant cats, abandoned kittens, and mother cats with litters. Foster care homes provide temporary care until the cats and kittens can be adopted through the adoption program. Foster care can last anywhere from 2 to 16 weeks. Foster Care Volunteers a loving home, care and administer medicines if needed. All medical care is paid for by Faithful Friends through our shelter. When kittens and mom are ready for adoption, they will be placed by going to adoption events or an adoption center when space is available.
