LAS VEGAS -- WSTW-FM Wilmington, DE today was awarded the National Association of Broadcasters' Crystal Radio Award. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service.

Ten winners were chosen among 50 finalists. Recipients were recognized at today's NAB Show Radio Luncheon.

WSTW-FM provided this description of its accomplishments in 2010:

"WSTW is committed to serving the communities of Delaware and the surrounding tri-state region. We are proud to be radio broadcasters and our entire staff works hard throughout the year supporting a variety of efforts that help improve the lives of thousands of our neighbors. During 2010, WSTW excelled at originating its own public service campaigns as well as creating partnerships to bring attention and support to many causes. WSTW's busy year was highlighted by a series of high-profile events that benefited local charities including March of Dimes, Wilmington Flower Market, Willowdale Steeplechase, Kennett Square Mushroom Festival, Swim4kids at A.I. DuPont Children's Hospital and the Basket Brigade. This is in addition to WSTW's year-round partnership with Smart Drive, the safe driving program it helped originate that is now in place at 110 high schools across Delaware Valley. In all, WSTW helped mobilize over 8,250 volunteers, raise $1.237 million and made cash contributions of $31,411 in 2010. WSTW's Smart Drive program was honored with the NAB's Service to America Award in 2009. It also received the NAB Marconi Radio Award for CHR Station of the Year in 2006 and was a Crystal Radio Award finalist in 2010."
