Weekly Scores       Monthly Totals       Overall Scores

The Checkered Flag Challenge is back and ready for another great year! It's your chance to win some big prizes throughout the entire NASCAR Sprint Cup Season. We've got great monthly prizes, plus a shot at two unbelieveable Grand Prizes.

It's easy to play. Each week, pick one driver from each bracket. Every Monday after a race, we'll give you points based on where your drivers finished and tally the points. The person with the top score for each month period of the contest* wins a great Monthly Prize!

But don't stop at the monthly prize; we'll keep tallying your scores after that. The person with the most points at the end of the first half of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season** will receive the Grand Prize: the Monster Racing "Meet the Monster" experience - 10 laps around the Monster Mile! Then we'll reset everyone's scores to zero and give yuo another chance to win into the fall.

How To Play
When you view each week's Checkered Flag Challenge entry form, you'll see four brackets of drivers; 10 drivers in each of the first three brackets, and 20 drivers in the 4th bracket. The drivers are listed in order of their current Sprint Cup standings (using the final standings from the previous year for the first race), so the first bracket is the top 10 drivers, the second bracket is drivers #11-20, and so on. Think of it as putting together your own NASCAR team for the week - you'll choose one driver from each bracket, and then hope that each driver was the best choice from among the drivers available.

Scoring
Your points are determined by where the drivers you pick finish in that week's race, using the NASCAR Sprint Cup points schedule. Let's say Dale Earnhardt, Jr., wins this week's race. For doing so, he'll get 185 points in the Sprint Cup season. Now let's say that you picked Dale this week. Since he won the race, you also get 185 points, plus points based on how the other drivers you picked finished! That's a whole lot of points available each and every week!

Two important notes about scoring:

  • NASCAR also assigns drivers bonus points for leading a lap or leading the most laps. We do NOT use these bonus points in the Checkered Flag Challenge.
  • Scoring is based on the drivers you pick, not on team or car number. You will only receive points based on how the drivers you pick fare. If there is a substitute driver on a team for any given week, that substitute driver is credited with the points he wins, NOT the driver who usually drives that car.

Scoring is cumulative, so come back every week to play. Whoever has earned the most points at the end of each half of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season receives the grand prize!
