Gorillaz have brought their animated universe into the real world with a limited-time pop-up in Los Angeles. The experience, known as House of Kong, transforms a retail space into a walk-through extension of the band’s fictional headquarters.
The project was introduced as an immersive merch shop tied to the group’s visual history. Created by co-founder Jamie Hewlett, the band’s distinct animated style shapes every corner of the space. Large-scale artwork, detailed set pieces, and themed rooms reference Kong Studios, the long-running backdrop to the band’s story.
Visitors can browse exclusive clothing and collectibles designed specifically for the pop-up. Many of the items are not available online, making the location a destination for fans looking for limited releases. The layout also encourages photos, with carefully designed environments that echo the band’s surreal, graphic aesthetic.
