Phil Campbell, the longtime guitarist for Motörhead, has died at age 64. The news was confirmed through statements shared by his family and bandmates, marking the loss of one of the musicians most closely associated with the band’s later era.
Campbell joined Motörhead in 1984 and quickly became a key part of the group’s lineup alongside Lemmy Kilmister and drummer Mikkey Dee. His arrival helped shape the band’s sound during a period that produced several of their best-known records, including Orgasmatron and 1916. His guitar work combined speed, clarity, and a straightforward rock approach that fit naturally with the band’s heavy style.
He remained a member of Motörhead for more than three decades, performing on numerous studio albums and touring extensively around the world until the band ended following Lemmy’s death in 2015.
