New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani says officials will examine the security breach that delayed Jay-Z’s final Yankee Stadium concert for several hours on Sunday night.
Speaking at a Monday press conference, Mamdani confirmed that hundreds of people without tickets attempted to force their way into the Bronx venue. Stadium entrances were temporarily closed as security teams and police worked to control the crowd, leaving many valid ticket holders waiting outside.
The concert eventually began shortly after midnight. Jay-Z addressed the delay from the stage, apologized to fans, and explained that the show could not begin until officials were confident the venue was safe.
