San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones is urging organizers to cancel Ye’s planned July 4 concert at the Alamodome, saying the city should not provide a public stage to an artist with a record of antisemitic remarks and hate speech.
In a public statement, Jones said Independence Day should reflect unity and respect, not division. She also pointed to the Alamodome’s role as a city-owned venue, arguing that public spaces carry a responsibility to protect community values.
The concert is currently scheduled for July 4 in San Antonio. Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has faced widespread criticism in recent years over repeated antisemitic comments, which led to lost business partnerships and public backlash.
