Marina and the Diamonds Shine on Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart

Marina and the Diamonds bound from No. 25 to No. 2 on Billboard‘s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart (dated Oct. 8) with Electra Heart. With the vault, the set matches its peak position, first achieved upon its debut — in July 2012.

Heart earned 12,000 equivalent album units (up 551%), with 10,000 in vinyl sales, in the Sept. 23-29 tracking week, according to Luminate. The surge was sparked by the Sept. 23 arrival of its Platinum Blonde Edition, a 10th-anniversary expanded reissue on magenta-colored vinyl. The collection also returns, after a decade, to Vinyl Albums (No. 3) and the Billboard 200 (No. 68).

Despite the set yet topping the tally, Heart‘s 160 weeks on Top Dance/Electronic Albums are the third-most for a non-No. 1 title, dating to the chart’s 2001 inception, following Alina Baraz & Galimatias’ Urban Flora (229 weeks; No. 2 peak, 2015) and Alan Walker’s Different World (197; No. 2, 2018).

Also on Top Dance/Electronic Albums, Swedish House Mafia soars 17-4 with Paradise Again (6,000 units; 4,000 from album sales). The set, which became the act’s second No. 1 when it debuted in April, was issued on CD Sept. 23 and made available with alternate cover art via the group’s webstore. The trio – Steve Angello, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso – first reigned with Until Now in 2012.

Meanwhile, as Elton John and Britney Spears vault 5-1 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart with “Hold Me Closer,” David Guetta and Bebe Rexha roar 16-5 with “I’m Good (Blue).” It’s Guetta’s 34th top 10 (and Rexha’s sixth), extending his lead for the most among all acts since the chart began in August 2003 (ahead of runner-up Rihanna with 24).

Reaching the top five in only its third week on the chart, “Good” is the first song to fly so high so fast since Diplo and Miguel’s “Don’t Forget My Love” leapt 12-3 in its second frame (March 12), on its way to two weeks at No. 1.

“Good” is garnering core-dance airplay on KMVQ-HD2 San Francisco, Channel Q and iHeartRadio’s Pride Radio, among other outlets, in addition to top 40 mix show attention. (The Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart measures radio airplay on a select group of full-time dance stations, along with plays during mix shows on around 70 top 40-formatted reporters.)
