Chrissy Teigen opened up about keeping up with her friend Kim Kardashian amidst the billionaire’s divorce from Kanye West.
During her virtual appearance on Watch What Happens Live Tuesday (April 20), fans asked the cookbook author about Kardashian’s well-being after she filed for divorce on Feb. 19, and whether her husband John Legend was in touch with his “Number One” collaborator.
“I will say I have definitely been in touch with Kim more than John has been in touch with Kanye,” Teigen responded, adding with a laugh, “If anyone knows Kanye, it’s that he goes off the grid. It’s hard to ever contact Kanye.”
The estranged couple recently filed court papers asking for joint legal and physical custody of their four children: North, 7; Saint, 5; Chicago, 3; and Psalm, 1. Both cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the end of their seven-year marriage, but left the date of their separation as “TBD.”
“Kim is doing OK. I know Kim gave her all for everything,” Teigen said. “It’s honestly a shame that it didn’t work out because I saw them being a forever relationship, I really did. But I know she tried her best.”
Legend, who serenaded the former couple with his sweeping ballad “All of Me” at their 2014 Italian wedding reception, told The Sunday Times last May that he and West were “never the closest of friends,” and their differing political views wasn’t necessarily the central reason. “I don’t think we’re less friends because of the Trump thing. I just think we’re doing our own thing,” the Bigger Love artist said at the time. “He’s up in Wyoming. I’m here in L.A. We’ve both got growing families and I no longer have a formal business relationship with him as an artist, so I think it’s just part of the natural cycle of life.”
