Just days after nabbing three Latin American Music Awards, all for her Nicki Minaj-assisted hit “Tusa,” Karol G virtually visited The Late Late Show with James Corden Monday night (April 19).
“That night was incredible,” she told host James Corden. “I just went there because I was going to perform for the first time a song after the launch of my album but I came home with three awards. I was super happy.”
During her pre-performance interview, where she was joined by rapper Ludacris and emerging star Emilee, Karol also explained how her album KG0516 was born during the pandemic.
“I had time to stop, think, and start writing down what I wanted to express on this album and who I wanted to work with,” she said. “We were in lockdown and I just had time to do my album and that’s why I think this album came so beautifully.”
Karol later took center stage for the TV debut of her track “Beautiful Boy” in collaboration with Ludacris and Emilee. The three acts give a Spanglish reggaeton twist to Sean Kingston’s 2007 reggae bop “Beautiful Girls,” which samples the bassline from Ben E. King’s “Stand by Me.”
