Luke Combs Sends Country Smash ‘Forever After All’ to Top 10 on All-Format Radio Songs Chart
Luke Combs' "Forever After All" becomes his first top 10 on the all-format Radio Songs chart, thanks almost exclusively to country radio support.
Luke Combs‘ “Forever After All” dominates Billboard‘s multi-metric Hot Country Songs chart (dated June 26) for an eighth week and Country Airplay for a fourth frame, with 36 million audience impressions in the tracking week, according to MRC Data. It also drew 13.3 million U.S. streams and sold 5,200 downloads.
The song is Combs’ sixth of his 11 Country Airplay No. 1s to lead for four weeks or more. Tim McGraw has charted a record eight No. 1s that have reigned for at least four weeks each, followed by Kenny Chesney and Toby Keith with seven each, while George Strait also boasts six.
“Forever” also becomes Combs’ first top 10 on the all-format Radio Songs chart, where it rises 11-10 with 40 million in overall reach. Notably, the song is the first to hit the Radio Songs top 10 by charting on Country Airplay but on no other individual genre chart, such as a pop or adult tally, since Radio Songs became an all-genre ranking in December 1998.
While nearly all the airplay for “Forever” in the tracking week was from country stations, and the song is being promoted only to country, Pop Airplay chart reporter WHHY Montgomery, Ala., played it five times in the latest tracking week.
‘GLAD’ TO HEAR Dan + Shay, the duo of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, add their ninth Country Airplay top 10, as “Glad You Exist” climbs 11-9, up 13% to 17.9 million impressions.
The song, which Smyers and Mooney co-penned with Ryan Lewis, Tayla Parx and Jordan Reynolds, is the third single from the duo’s forthcoming fourth LP, following “I Should Probably Go to Bed,” which peaked at No. 2 on Country Airplay and No. 4 on Hot Country Songs in January.
Lead single “10,000 Hours,” with Justin Bieber, dominated Hot Country Songs for 21 weeks beginning in October 2019 and Country Airplay for two frames starting the following January.
All of Dan + Shay’s first seven Country Airplay top 10s hit No. 1, starting with “Nothin’ Like You” in December 2015.
On Hot Country Songs, “Glad” returns to the top 10 and its highpoint (11-10), with 6.5 million U.S. streams and 1,400 sold.
COUNTRY COMEDY Brantley Gilbert’s new tongue-in-cheek single “The Worst Country Song of All Time,” featuring Hardy and Toby Keith, debuts at No. 32 on Country Airplay with 3.2 million audience impressions in its first three days following its June 18 release, helped by hourly plays on iHeartMedia stations that day.
Among the song’s pitches for its title status: “Stick a fork in the constitution / I support Kim Jong-un and Putin,” goes a lyric in the second verse. “Yeah, this is the worst country song of all time.”
