Miranda Lambert shed tears of joy when she returned to the stage for the first time in over a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic during her three-concert run at Billy Bob’s Texas last weekend.
The singer posted a highlight video on TikTok on April 24, the last day of her shows, at the legendary honky-tonk. While Billy Bob’s Texas was celebrating its 40th anniversary, Lambert hosted a celebration of her own with her “first show back in over a year.” She broke down crying amidst roaring applause while performing her 2010 Grammy-winning and Hot Country Songs No. 1 hit “The House That Built Me.”
“First show back. Love y’all,” she captioned the clip, which showed her wiping away tears with her silver-fringed sleeves as the fans sung the lyrics for her.
Fellow country singer Ashley Cooke commented underneath the TikTok, “this moment. tears watching this. wow.”
Prior to her three-show residency at Billy Bob’s, the “Bluebird” singer last performed in front of a live audience at the start of her Wildcard Tour in January 2020. But like many other artists, she was forced to postpone the rest of her jaunt due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that halted the live music industry in March last year.
Lambert posted more onstage pictures from her concerts last weekend, writing, “Thanks to everyone who came out. The warm welcome back to the stage with the band after over 400 days sure felt good! Loved getting back to my old stopping grounds.” According to Billy Bob’s concert schedule on its website, the 29-time ACM winner is set to perform two more shows this weekend on May 1 and 2, which are currently sold out.
