Olivia Rodrigo Continues to Dominate Australia’s Singles and Albums Charts

Olivia Rodrigo has done it again. The U.S. pop phenom lands a fifth chart double in Australia, as Sour (Interscope/Universal) continues its reign over the national albums chart and “Good 4 U” extends its streak atop the singles survey.

It’s a rare feat. The last artist to log five or more weeks at No. 1 on both the ARIA Singles and Albums Charts was Ed Sheeran, who spent five straight weeks at the top in March and April 2017 with “Shape Of You” and Divide, respectively.

Sour is now gold-certified (35,000 combined units) and has accumulated over 147 million streams in Australia, where it’s the longest-running No. 1 of the year.

Rodrigo’s hit holds off Nick Cave and Warren Ellis’ fast-moving Carnage (AWAL/Inertia), which returns to the chart at No. 2 following its release on physical formats. On its first chart appearance, following a digital-only release in February, the collaborative album peaked at No. 40. It’s the first full-length studio LP as a duo by the long-time friends and Bad Seeds bandmates, aside from several soundtracks, including The Proposition, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and The Road.

Carnage is the week’s best-selling vinyl album in Australia.

Also new to the latest ARIA Albums Chart is Fear Factory’s 10th studio release, Aggression Continuum (Nuclear Blast/Universal). It arrives at No. 15, equaling the peak of its predecessor, 2015’s Genexus.

Further down the list, BTS’ compilation BTS, The Best (Virgin/Universal) bows at No. 31. It’s the K-pop superstars’ first appearance on the ARIA Albums Chart since BE blasted to No. 2 in November 2020.

With Rodrigo unmoved from the summit of the ARIA Singles Chart, Italian rockers Maneskin bag the week’s highest debut with “Beggin’” (RCA/Sony), a cover of a song released in the ‘60s by The Four Seasons. It’s new at No. 22 for the band’s first appearance on the ARIA charts. Maneskin rose to international fame when they won the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest with “Zitti e buoni”.
