Australia’s popular mid-winter festival Splendour in the Grass will go digital next month, with a two-day virtual event featuring performances from Khalid, CHVRCHES, The Killers, Charlie XCX and many more.
Also confirmed to the Splendour XR lineup are Denzel Curry, Phoebe Bridgers, Vance Joy, Little Simz, The Avalanches, Duke Dumont, Of Monsters and Men, Masked Wolf, Tash Sultana and Russ Millions, while Grimes will unleash her new project, Meteverse (Super Beta).
“We could not be more excited about Splendour XR and the opportunity to take the Splendour goodness online to our existing community and also to new audiences around the globe,” comments SITG co-producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco.
Access is priced from $19.99 for a single day, and $34.99 for both days.

Splendour XR will take place July 24 and 25 and should be “amongst the most innovative virtual live events that the consumer market has seen,” explains Kristy Rosser, Managing Director of Brand Partnerships at SITG organizer Secret Sounds.
The virtual edition of SITG will be available on mobile, tablet, browser, desktop and VR and will switch on with an exclusive music streaming partnership via Moodagent, the digital music service that launched here in recent days.
SITG is unique in the Australian festival calendar. Pre-pandemic, the camping festival would stretch across three days during the coldest time of year, nestled in picturesque Byron Bay with a bill featuring some of the hottest international and local acts, many testing-out new material on audiences for the first time.
The health crisis ruined the 20th anniversary edition of SITG, which was due to take place in July 2020 with headliners Flume, The Strokes and Tyler, The Creator, and many more, but was ultimately pushed back, more than once.
Organizers initially postponed the show until October 2022, then rescheduled for July 2021 with a planned bill featuring Tyler, The Creator and The Strokes. With Australia’s vaccine rollout running well behind schedule, and following the last minute cancelation of Byron Bay Bluesfest in April, a virtual event was the smart — and safe — option.
