UPDATE: Trey Anastasio’s concerts sold out “immediately upon going on sale Friday afternoon,” according to promoter MSG Entertainment.
“Trey was the only artist to play live at The Beacon during the pandemic, so we’re honored that he’ll be the first artist back on our stage playing for a packed house,” said James Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of MSG Entertainment, in a statement. “There’s no question people are eager to start gathering to once again experience events they love — and are more than willing to get vaccinated to do so. We’re focused on opening up all our venues to not just usher in the return of live entertainment, but of New York.”
Phish frontman Trey Anastasio will perform the first full-capacity indoor concert in Manhattan next month at the Beacon Theatre in a performance that will undoubtedly make history and quickly sell out when tickets go on sale Friday (May 27) at 12 p.m. ET.
The June 22 and 23 dates, presented by Madison Square Garden Entertainment, will be performed to a 100% vaccinated audience of 2,700 fans, making it the first concert of its kind in New York following a press conference with Governor Andrew Cuomo on May 17 with MSG Entertainment executive chairman and chief executive Jim Dolan.

During the press conference, Dolan announced that MSG planned to begin booking 100% capacity fully vaccinated shows in hopes of encouraging unvaccinated music fans to get their shot. Anastasio has a long relationship with MSG — he was the only artist to play the Beacon during the pandemic for his streaming eight-week The Beacon Jams series on Twitch and can be seen in the documentary What Calls You Home on YouTube.
While the Beacon shows are currently the first concerts in the city, Anastasio will play his first shows in the state at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on June 18, 19 and 20. Tickets are currently sold out. Phish are also scheduled to tour this summer and fall, with dates starting in July and running through October.

Peter Shapiro, who runs the Brooklyn Bowl and Capitol Theatre, two well-known jam band venues in New York, applauded the announcement and said he is planning to reopen his venues in September.
“We are going to go hard in September and I just need to make sure our staff is ready to go,” Shapiro said.
